Im Pamir

„For Jan, just like you, I also seek inspiration in the unknown and find the beauty and power in the immediacy of a glance. Let's continue to find beauty in terror, or at least in strangeness. It is part of the truth and deserves a narrative.“

Dedication by Priska Seisenbacher, Vienna (Austria) 2021

I thank you dear Priska for this wonderful gift, that may be a joyful task for us humans. We artists, untouchable, even holy sisters and brothers in the spirit of our order of the arts, have a confession and covenant, committed to us, and we will not be silent: not without powerful words and not without powerful pictures we will be, and without any false hesitation we will act, and without any amen we will dare everything and ignite the present.

After all:

It's about our freedom!

I do not believe in self-blame.
Sensitivity does not need to bear guilt.

And knowledge is the basis for cognition as a means
to leave our immaturity behind, for the sake of our future.

This society does not need taboos and can overcome stigmatization.

I would like to see a society, in which everyone finds their place in their time, and we want to tell our stories to each other again, because we know that we are sheltered in it.

Home.

A quote from Alexander von Humboldt comes to mind: „The most dangerous worldview is the worldview of those who have never looked at the world“. Brother of the New Humanist and philosopher of language Wilhelm von Humboldt.

Forming the whole person - against the compulsion to be useful

"To my friend and teacher Fritz Holthoff with thanks and veneration."

Dedication by Johannes Rau. 27/1.04, Berlin (Germany)

Eighth President of the Federal Republic of Germany (1999 - 2004). In his historic speech in the Knesset in Jerusalem on February 16, 2000, the first German head of state begged forgiveness from the Jewish people for Holocaust crimes, in German. Faithful Christian, keeping the people in mind in every word, and storyteller admired by the child JAN HOLTHOFF, still father of the country then.

Meditations for day and year

„May what is coming, rest on what has been.
May what has been, surmise what is to come,
For a vigorous present existence.
Through inward life-withstanding
May the world-beings' guard grow strong,
May the might of life's working blossom forth,
May what has been endured bring what is to come!“

Meditation by Rudolf Steiner

I thank you, dear fellow Jens Kilian, for speaking these words to me in a place and time when we were staying together - Hey, earth spirit - who is calling me?!

JAN HOLTHOFF, Dusseldorf (Germany) 2021

Faust/Eine Tragödie von Goethe

„Medicine, and Law, and Philosophy -
You've worked your way through every school,
Even, God help you, Theology,
And sweated at it like a fool.
Why labour at it any more?
You're no wiser now than you were before;“

„How differently it works on me, this Sign!
You, the Spirit of Earth, are nearer:
Already, I feel my power is greater,
Already, I glow, as with fresh wine.
I feel the courage to engage the world,
Into the pain and joy of Earth be hurled,
And though the storm wind is unfurled,
Fearless, in the shipwreck’s teeth, be whirled.
There’s cloud above me –
The Moon hides its light –
The lamp flickers!
Now it dies! Crimson rays dart
Round my head – Horror
Flickers from the vault above,
And grips me tight!
I feel you float around me,
Spirit, I summon to appear, speak to me!

Who calls me?
So terrible to gaze at!“

Gift from parents Helga and Dirk Holthoff (RIP), for the 1st state Law examination/diploma by JAN HOLTHOFF

When the mind falls silent, things become free, and the world speaks its name wordlessly.
